The first season of the series is centered around the family consists of Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott), Vivien (Connie Britton) and Violet (Taissa Farmiga). After Vivien has a miscarriage and Ben has cheated on her with one of his students, the Harmon decide to leave Boston and buy a Victorian house in Los Angeles. Upon their arrival, they learn that the previous owner of the house was killed by her boyfriend, who committed suicide after the murder. Moira O'Hara (Frances Conroy), housekeeper taking care of the house for years this family from the beginning of the series to return to work. The house undergoes frequent visits neighbor Constance (Jessica Lange) and her daughter with Down syndrome Adelaide (Jamie Brewer), which seems to be attached to the house and its past. Ben, a psychiatrist for the young customer Tate Langdon (Evan Peters), probably schizophrenia, it quickly knotted ties with Violet. The more time passes, the Harmon family realizes that their new life is slowly becoming their worst nightmare, living in a house hiding terrible secrets.
